Even though Joey phoned in his answers late last night, he didn't post them so they do not count. Here is the answer to the second part of the second question.
Barnabus and Paul got into an argument over Barnabas' cousin John also called Mark. Why? What would upset the two dudes so much that they would part ways? It was because John Mark ditched them in Pamphylia, the first mission trip. Barnabas wanted to give his cousin a second chance but Paul was reluctant. But let's learn more about this John Mark character, shall we....
John Mark was a young guy from Jerusalem. He was exposed to the early Christian movement and his mother, Mary, opened her home to the early Christian leaders. Paul and Barnabas took Mark on their first missionary trip but Mark took off for some reason. Paul was "terribly disappointed" and refused to allow Mark on the next journey which led to the spat. My Bible states that "although Paul may have sized up the young man as hopeless, he later changed his opinion. Mark eventually became a valued assistant to Paul and three of the apostle's letters mention him with gratitude. Peter refers warmly to Mark as "my son" (1 Peter 5:13). Tradition has it that Mark accompanied Peter to Rome, where Peter helped him write the Gospel account that bears Mark's name."
I thought this was very interesting and just wanted to share with you :)
